In my career as a medical professional, I came to understand that at the core of most chronic pain and dysfunction is deeply held restriction. Restriction occurs when the body is unable to re-establish balance. Restriction is most often a reaction to trauma, from minor to major, from yesterday to 25 years ago, from a physical, a mental, or an emotional cause.  

A balanced pelvis is the foundation to everything else finding balance in the body. This simple set of positions help to release restrictions and restore balance within and along the most vital postural structures in the body: the pelvis and spine. Core to the practice is the relaxed state which is purposely developed before beginning any type of stretch. This relaxed state is called the parasympathetic state, which triggers the body's own balancing and healing mechanisms. Maintaining the parasympathetic state during the stretches sets the potential for deep healing and true resolution of pain and other dysfunction.
